The Challenge

Building a rugged surveillance rover capable of real-time low-latency video streaming, obstacle avoidance under 50ms response time, and remote telemetry transmission over long ranges with unstable RF/WiFi networks.

Our Solution

Designed an ESP32-CAM and Arduino Mega dual-MCU architecture. Developed a custom lightweight C++ network protocol over RF transceiver modules for remote telemetry, and programmed an ultrasonic-radar avoidance system.

The Result

  • Successfully mapped and navigated obstacles in real-time under 40ms.
  • Transmitted live telemetry data up to 500m with a 99.8% packet delivery rate.
  • Operated continuously for 3.5 hours on an optimized lithium-ion battery management circuit.
